


A local Awami League leader was found murdered with his throat slit in Pabna's Ataikula on Saturday afternoon.
Police recovered the body of Abdus Shukur (40) from Wazir's Garden in the Ratanpur Uttarpara area of Bhulbaria Union at around 4:30 pm. Shukur son of the late Rokon Pramanik served as the vice-president of the Ward No. 9 Awami League unit in Bhulbaria.
According to family sources, Shukur left his home in Ratanpur village around 9:00 pm on Friday. When he failed to return late into the night anxious relatives searched for him but could not locate his whereabouts.
On Saturday afternoon locals discovered his body in the garden and immediately alerted law enforcement. Ataikula police arrived at the scene, recovered the body and family members subsequently identified him.
Police officials confirmed the incident stating the body has been sent to the Pabna General Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Preparations are currently underway to file a formal murder case at the Ataikula Police Station as investigations begin.
