Bangladesh leveled their three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe with a commanding 34-run victory in the second game in Bulawayo on Friday, setting up a Sunday decider in Harare.
Batting first, Bangladesh posted a formidable 186 for 5, heavily capitalizing on a sloppy Zimbabwean fielding effort that included six dropped catches. Openers Tanzid Hasan (58 off 44 balls) and Saif Hassan (55 off 42 balls) built a dominant 120-run partnership.
Despite an excellent platform, Bangladesh suffered a sudden middle-order collapse, losing five wickets for just 21 runs. However, a spectacular late cameo by Mohammad Saifuddin completely shifted the momentum. Batting at number seven, Saifuddin blasted 28 runs in the final over bowled by Brad Evans. He became the first Bangladeshi batter to hit four consecutive sixes in a T20I, pushing the total to a highly competitive 186.
In response, Zimbabwe’s chase faltered immediately. The spin duo of Mahedi Hasan (3-24) and Rishad Hossain (4-26) dismantled the hosts' batting lineup. Mahedi struck early, helping reduce Zimbabwe to 21 for 3 within the first three overs.
While Sikandar Raza (28 off 12 balls) and Ryan Burl (29) provided brief resistance, the mounting required run rate and consistent wicket-taking by the Bangladeshi spinners kept the hosts grounded. Zimbabwe was ultimately bowled out for 152 with two balls to spare.
The only setback for the touring side was an injury concern regarding fast bowler Nahid Rana, who left the field mid-over with a suspected side strain.
