The Moroccan Football Federation has officially backed head coach Mohamed Ouahbi to remain in his position through the 2030 World Cup, a tournament Morocco will co-host alongside Spain and Portugal.
The federation announced its continued confidence in the 49-year-old coach on Thursday, despite the Atlas Lions’ recent 2-0 quarterfinal defeat to France in the 2026 World Cup. Ouahbi, who took over the national team in March, previously guided the Moroccan Under-20 squad to a World Cup victory in 2025.
He succeeded Walid Regragui, celebrated for leading Morocco to the 2022 World Cup semi-finals and the recent African Cup of Nations final. Although the exact length of Ouahbi's current contract has not been formally specified by the federation, the coach has confirmed his commitment to leading the team into their home tournament in 2030.
