


A fire broke out at an old building in Dhaka's Mohakhali on Thursday with sending thick black smoke into the sky and drawing attention from a distance.
The Fire Service received reports of the blaze around 11:15am said Khaleda Yasmin the duty officer at the control room. The fire started at a building near the former British American Tobacco office the behind SKS Shopping Mall.
"Three firefighting units have gone there. It will take a little more time to get further details" Yasmin said.
There was no immediate word on what caused the fire or whether anyone was injured. Authorities are expected to share more details once firefighting efforts progress.
