


A fire broke out on the third floor of an 11-storey commercial building in the capital's Mirpur-2 on Monday afternoon. Five firefighting units are currently working to bring the blaze under control.
The Fire Service and Civil Defence control room received the report at 1:52 pm. Duty Officer Lima Khanam confirmed the incident, stating that teams were dispatched immediately to the scene.
Anwarul Islam Dolon, an officer from the Fire Service media cell, reported that four individuals have already been rescued from the building's rooftop. "Approximately 5 to 6 people remain on the roof. We are deploying a Turntable Ladder (TTL) to bring them down safely," he said.
As of now, no casualties have been reported. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are yet to be determined.
