Local police conducted an eviction drive in Dagonbhuiyan municipal town on Wednesday evening to clear footpaths and roads with aiming to ease traffic congestion and ensure smooth movement for pedestrians.
The operation covered key roads including Feni Road, Gajaria Road, Choumuhani Road, Zero Point, Chowdhury Hat Road and Faziler Ghat Road. Mobile stalls set up along the Feni-Noakhali regional highway were removed and vehicle owners were warned against haphazard parking.
Mobile vendors operating near Ataturk School Market and the foot-over bridge were also asked to vacate the area and warned against doing business by encroaching on highways or footpaths.
Police said no activity obstructing traffic in Dagonbhuiyan town, Zero Point or nearby areas would be tolerated, and legal action would follow against violators.
Fayzul Azim Noman, Officer-in-Charge of Dagonbhuiyan Police Station, said the drive was aimed at relieving congestion and ensuring unhindered movement for the public. He added that authorities would remain vigilant to prevent further encroachment on roads and footpaths.
Jasim Uddin Liton, General Secretary of the Bazar Traders' Welfare Association, was present during the operation alongside law enforcement personnel.
