Milk and yogurt are both highly nutritious, but deciding which to consume daily depends on your digestive health. While milk is a well-known "superfood," yogurt offers unique advantages that make it accessible to almost everyone.

According to nutritionist Biswajit Das, milk is packed with calcium, protein, vitamin B, and potassium. It is essential for bone strength, physical growth in children, and sustained energy. However, individuals with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) or lactose intolerance often struggle to digest it.

For them, yogurt is the perfect alternative. Created by fermenting milk, yogurt is rich in probiotics—beneficial bacteria that promote gut health and improve digestion. The fermentation process pre-digests the proteins, making them much easier for the stomach to absorb. People who suffer from bloating or gastric issues after drinking milk can comfortably eat yogurt.

Furthermore, the body absorbs calcium and phosphorus more easily from yogurt than from milk. Regular consumption of unsweetened yogurt boosts immunity, helps manage blood pressure, and improves skin and hair health. It also acts as a natural cooling agent, keeping the body hydrated during hot summer months.

Ultimately, both dairy products are excellent dietary choices. However, due to its gut-friendly probiotics, superior nutrient absorption, and ease of digestion, experts suggest yogurt holds a slight edge over milk. You should choose the one that best aligns with your body's digestive needs.
