


Prime Minister's Adviser Mahdi Amin met with Laura Tom Bond Chief of Mission for the International Organization for Migration (IOM) on Thursday to discuss strengthening Bangladesh's migration governance.
The talks prioritized expanding safe, dignified, and technology-driven overseas employment opportunities, with a special focus on women. Amin emphasized the need to explore new labor markets, notably in the Middle East and other emerging international destinations. To meet global market demands, he highlighted the crucial need to upskill the Bangladeshi workforce through enhanced training.
The discussion also centered on making the migration process more transparent, affordable, and accountable. Both leaders stressed the vital need to protect migrant workers and improve their access to essential support services.
During the meeting, the IOM delegation reiterated its commitment to providing Bangladesh with technical assistance to modernize migration management for overseas-bound workers. Additionally, the officials reviewed preparations for the upcoming launch of Bangladesh's National Action Plan under the Global Compact for Migration, a joint initiative being implemented by the government and the IOM.
