BNP's election management committee spokesperson Dr. Mahdi Amin has thanked the armed forces, the government and all concerned for organizing the elections in a fair manner. At the same time, he accused the spread of misinformation on election day.
He made these remarks at a press conference organized at the BNP's election management office in Gulshan on Thursday (February 12) evening after the 13th National Parliament election and the referendum on the July Charter.
Mahdi Amin said that a group has systematically tried to reduce voter turnout by deploying fake observers and spreading misleading information on social media. The aim of these activities was to create an unstable situation.
He claimed that voter turnout would have increased further if such misleading campaigns were not carried out. He also expressed hope that BNP would achieve an absolute victory if the counting of votes was fair and impartial.
The BNP spokesperson urged party leaders, activists and supporters to remain at the polling stations until the final results are announced. He also urged all parties to respect the democratic process by accepting the results.
