Aishwarya Rai's 75 Lakh Rupee Wedding Sari: A Look Back on Her 19th Anniversary

Bollywood icons Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary on April 20. Nearly two decades after their high-profile union in 2007, the details of their "royal" wedding—particularly Aishwarya’s attire—continue to fascinate fans and fashion enthusiasts alike.

In 2007, social media was non-existent, leaving much of the wedding shrouded in mystery. However, reports from the time confirm that celebrity designer Neeta Lulla crafted Aishwarya’s bridal sari. In contemporary Bangladeshi currency, the gold-embroidered Kanjeevaram was valued at approximately 90 lakh taka (roughly ₹75 lakh).

The look was completed with traditional gold and diamond jewelry, including a mangalsutra worth crores gifted by Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan. To this day, her bridal appearance remains one of the most expensive and iconic in Bollywood history.

The couple’s romance blossomed in 2006 while filming Umrao Jaan. During the promotional tour for their hit film Guru, Abhishek proposed to Aishwarya on a hotel balcony in New York. Aishwarya accepted, and the couple wed on April 20, 2007, in a private ceremony following traditional Hindu rituals. Nineteen Years of the ‘Power Couple’

Since the birth of their daughter, Aaradhya, in 2011, the couple has shifted their focus from the limelight to family life. While tabloid rumors occasionally suggest marital strain, the pair continues to appear together at public events, consistently dispelling breakup speculations. As they mark 19 years together, fans across the globe continue to celebrate their enduring journey.
