


Ten people were injured and several homes were vandalized when a week-long dispute over kite flying erupted into a midnight clash between two rival factions in Narail’s Lohagara upazila.
The violent confrontation between the Molya and Munshi groups took place late Thursday (June 4) in Matiadanga village under Kotakol union. According to local sources, tensions over the kite-flying dispute had been building for days before escalating into a physical altercation involving torches and makeshift weapons.
Ajit Kumar Roy, Inspector (Investigation) of Lohagara Police Station, confirmed the incident.
"We quickly reached the spot and brought the situation under control," Inspector Roy stated. "Additional police forces are currently deployed in the area to maintain peace, and operations are underway to arrest those involved."
Six members of the Munshi group sustained injuries: Mizanur Munshi (50), Ijazul Munshi (38), Azizul Munshi (42), Hanif Sardar (35), Khaja Sarkar (60), and Azad Sardar. Four members of the Molya group were also injured: Rabiul Islam (35), Bachchu Molya (50), Rafeza Begum (55), and Saidur Sardar (35).
