Police have arrested three members of an inter-district auto-rickshaw theft gang in Patiya recovering four stolen vehicles in the process.
The arrestees were identified as Md. Nurul Amin (30) Ujjwal Mia (36) and Rimon Ahmed (27).
Acting on a tip-off a Patiya Police Station team conducted a raid on Sunday (August 2) near Fatema Motors along the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway in the Bahuli area. The suspects were caught while attempting to trade the stolen CNG-run auto-rickshaws.
Chattogram District Additional Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Md. Russell confirmed the arrests. He stated that during initial interrogation the trio confessed to being part of an organized vehicle theft ring operating across multiple districts.
A formal case has been filed regarding the incident. Police drives are ongoing to apprehend the remaining members of the syndicate to curb regional vehicle theft.
