The Interior Designers Association of Bangladesh (IDAB) has officially announced the second edition of the IDAB Excellence in Interior Design Award 2026 reaffirming its commitment to recognizing excellence, innovation and professional standards within Bangladesh's interior design industry.
The announcement was made during a press conference held at the World Literature Centre (Bishwo Shahitto Kendra) in Dhaka on Sunday. Organizers recalled that although the inaugural edition was originally scheduled for 2024, it was held in 2025 due to the country's political situation. The first edition received an overwhelming response, attracting 117 project submissions across four categories: Residential, Corporate, Retail and Hospitality. Building on that success, organizers expect even greater participation this year while addressing minor shortcomings from the inaugural event to ensure a more refined, transparent, and internationally benchmarked competition.
Project submissions will be accepted from August 5 to September 15, 2026, through the official website, www.idabaward.com. Interior designers and architects from across Bangladesh are invited to submit their completed projects online, where comprehensive information on eligibility, submission procedures, competition guidelines, jury members and evaluation criteria is available.
Addressing the gathering, IDAB President Syed Quamrul Ahsan said: "Over the past three decades, Bangladesh's interior design industry has experienced remarkable growth. Our objective is to help establish a stronger, more organized and accountable professional industry. This award is not simply about recognizing outstanding projects; it is about creating a culture of excellence, responsibility and professionalism while introducing Bangladesh's talented designers to both national and international audiences."
MD Saiful Islam, Chairman of the Award Committee and Senior Vice President of IDAB, presented the overall competition framework, submission process, and judging methodology. Architect Sajib Jahan, Vice President of IDAB, encouraged interior designers and architects across the country to submit their finest projects and become part of the nation's most prestigious interior design recognition program.

The IDAB Excellence in Interior Design Award 2026 is organized by the Interior Designers Association of Bangladesh (IDAB), with Design Doctors Studio serving as the Event Consultant. The press conference was attended by IDAB Executive Committee members, design professionals, building material manufacturers and media representatives.
