World number one Aryna Sabalenka is eager to return to the hard courts of the upcoming US Open following a string of disappointing Grand Slam results earlier this year.

Speaking ahead of the Canadian Open, the 28-year-old Belarusian admitted she struggled to find her rhythm during the clay and grass seasons. "I have huge hopes" Sabalenka said. "We’re kind of back to the basics and I really hope it’s going to work out well on the hard court again."

Adding to her hard-court campaign, Sabalenka announced she will team up with 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic in the revamped US Open mixed doubles championship. Set for August 25-26 at Arthur Ashe and Louis Armstrong stadiums, the high-profile event offers a $1 million prize to attract top singles players.

The star-studded mixed doubles lineup also features Iga Swiatek playing with Casper Ruud and Naomi Osaka teaming up with Kei Nishikori. Defending champions Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori are also slated to compete. The tournament will feature a fast-paced format with four-game sets and a 10-point match tiebreaker.

In a separate discussion during the press conference, Sabalenka voiced her full support for the WTA’s newly updated eligibility policy, which requires players to clear a one-time gene test. She emphasized that maintaining biological fairness in the women's tour is crucial.
