The Local Government Division (LGD) has directed all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) across Bangladesh to strictly follow the ‘Warrant of Precedence 1986’ (amended up to July 2020). This order ensures that Zilla Parishad (District Council) administrators and chairmen receive their appropriate status at state functions, national days, and government meetings.
In a directive issued on July 30 signed by LGD Joint Secretary Khondaker Farhad Ahmed, the government emphasized the need to maintain official protocol and uphold the dignity of local government representatives. The LGD has instructed all relevant officials and institutions to implement these guidelines immediately.
To ensure nationwide compliance copies of the letter were forwarded to key administrative figures including the Cabinet Secretary Divisional Commissioners, Police Commissioners and the relevant District Council heads.
The primary objective of this initiative is to strictly enforce the state priority list. The LGD expects this measure will guarantee that District Council administrators and chairmen receive their rightful respect and protocol at all district-level government functions.
