A three-member committee has been formed to investigate allegations of physical torture of Krishna Halder, a fifth-grade student of Lohagara Model Government Primary School in Narail.

The committee visited the school on Tuesday morning and conducted the inquiry. Present during the investigation were the two accused teachers, the student, his guardian, and other school staff.

The incident occurred during school hours on Monday, April 6. A video of the alleged torture went viral on Facebook the following day, triggering widespread public outrage.

According to reports, teacher Rani Chakraborty allegedly beat Krishna Halder on multiple parts of his body with a duster used to erase blackboard ink, leaving him with serious injuries. Krishna Halder received primary treatment from a local doctor. Earlier, on Wednesday, April 1, another teacher, Deepak Kumar, was accused of physically assaulting the same student.

Lohagara Upazila Government Primary Education Officer Animesh Biswas said, “Following instructions from the District Primary Education Officer, a three-member committee was formed on Tuesday, headed by Lohagara Upazila Assistant Primary Education Officer Golam Rabbani, with Dibakar Kumar Nag and Debashish Singh as members. The committee will submit its report to the concerned department within three days.”
