Two teachers of Lohagara Model Government Primary School in Narail have been accused of brutally torturing Krishna Haldar, a fifth-grade student.
The incident occurred during school hours on Monday (April 6). A video of the student’s injuries went viral on Facebook on Tuesday, sparking widespread public outcry.
According to reports, teacher Rani Chakraborty beat Krishna severely with a blackboard duster, causing extensive physical injuries. The student required medical attention from a local doctor following the assault.
This follows a previous incident on Wednesday (April 1), where another teacher, Deepak Kumar, allegedly tortured the same student.
Krishna’s family claimed they had previously reported the abuse to the Headmistress, Rumana Akhter, but no action was taken. On Monday, Rani Chakraborty reportedly attacked the boy again, specifically because the family had complained to the school administration.
"Two teachers are repeatedly beating my son, using poor academic performance as an excuse," said Uttam Haldar, the victim's father. "We demand justice."
The boy's mother, Pallavi, added that Krishna is now traumatized. "My son is in a state of panic and is terrified to go to school," she said.
Headmistress Rumana Akhter described the incident as "regrettable" and stated that both teachers have been warned.
Lohagara Upazila Primary Education Officer Animesh Biswas confirmed that the District Primary Education Officer will investigate the matter and take necessary disciplinary action immediately.
