The body of Mukul Molya, 54, a park manager in Lohagara, Narail, was exhumed on Tuesday afternoon—seven months and ten days after his burial—following allegations of foul play.
The exhumation took place at the Laxmipasha Central Cemetery under the supervision of Executive Magistrate Mohammad Mehedi Hasan and CID officials. Mukul, the son of the late Ruhul Molya, was a counter manager at the ‘Niribili Picnic Spot’ in Lohagara.
According to the case report, the incident occurred on August 27, 2025. Several individuals, identified as Abu Sayeed, Arina Jannatul, and Sahanur Begum, reportedly engaged in a heated argument with Mukul regarding a room rental. The dispute escalated, and the group allegedly assaulted him.
Mukul was rushed to the Lohagara Upazila Health Complex, where doctors pronounced him dead.
At the time of his death, Mukul’s family believed he had suffered a fatal heart attack and buried him the following day. However, their perspective changed after video footage of the alleged assault surfaced on social media.
Prompted by the footage, Mukul’s sister, Rehena Parveen, filed a case with the Lohagara Administrative Court on November 2, 2025. Following an application by the CID, the court ordered the exhumation for a formal autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
"The body was exhumed following proper legal procedures per court orders. Further action depends on the autopsy findings," stated Executive Magistrate Mohammad Mehedi Hasan.
Investigators believe the autopsy report will be the deciding factor in resolving the mystery surrounding Mukul Molya’s death.
