Responsibilities Divided Between Two State Ministers for Foreign Affairs

The government has allocated responsibilities between the two State Ministers for Foreign Affairs.

The division of responsibilities was formalized through a circular issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday (August 23).

According to the circular, Humayun Kabir will serve as State Minister for Foreign Affairs-1, while Shama Obaed Islam MP will serve as State Minister for Foreign Affairs-2.

Both state ministers will assist the Foreign Minister in carrying out their assigned responsibilities under his direction and supervision.

Humayun Kabir (State Minister-1) will be responsible for:

• Bilateral and multilateral affairs
• Non-resident Bangladeshis
• Any other matters assigned by the Foreign Minister

Shama Obaed Islam (State Minister-2) will oversee:

Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

• Human rights
• Research and innovation
• Environment and climate change
• Creative economy
• LDC graduation
• ICT
• Law of the sea and marine resources
• Global health diplomacy
• Cultural and sports diplomacy
