Mobile Court Fines Two Unlicensed Sawmills in Laxmipur

A mobile court lead by Executive Magistrate Sohana Khandaker fined two unlicensed sawmills.

The Laxmipur district administration conducted a mobile court operation against unlicensed sawmills in Joksin and Mandari unions of Sadar Upazila on Sunday also fining two establishments a total of Tk.15,000.

Executive Magistrate Sohana Khandaker led the drive, during which authorities found that both sawmills were operating without the required licenses. Fines were imposed under the Sawmill (License) Rules, 2012 and collected on the spot.

During the operation, sawmill owners were informed about the process for obtaining proper licenses and briefed on legal requirements for compliance.

The Laxmipur District Forest Department, Bangladesh Police and Battalion Ansar members supported the mobile court operation.

District officials said such drives will continue to protect the environment and forest resources with ensuring proper implementation of relevant laws and regulations in the public interest.
