Former Bollywood actress Ayesha Takia won hearts in films like Taarzan: The Wonder Car, Dor and Wanted, has intentionally stayed away from the silver screen for over a decade.
Starting her career as a teenage model in iconic music videos, Takia made her film debut in 2004 also winning the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. She earned critical acclaim in Imtiaz Ali's Socha Na Tha and Nagesh Kukunoor's Dor before scoring her biggest commercial hit opposite Salman Khan in the 2009 blockbuster Wanted.
At the peak of her fame in 2009 the 22-year-old Takia married restaurateur Farhan Azmi and chose to step back from full-time acting to prioritize her family and venture into business. Contrary to rumors, her departure was a voluntary life decision rather than a consequence of box-office performance. She briefly returned for the 2011 film Mod and hosted the reality show Sur Kshetra in 2012 before completely retiring from acting.
In recent years, Takia has faced intense social media scrutiny and trolling over changes in her physical appearance.
Addressing plastic surgery rumors, she stated that circulated images were altered and clarified that she has no interest in making a film comeback or chasing fame. Today, she lives privately with her husband and son Mikail, devoting her time to her family, business and animal welfare advocacy.
