Mobile Court Fines Fruit Shops Tk 13,500 in Lakshmipur

A mobile court has fined several fruit shops a total of Tk 13,500 for various irregularities during an enforcement drive in Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila.

The drive was conducted on Thursday (October 8) on roads in Chawk Bazar, Uttar Temohani and Dakshin Temohani under an initiative of the Lakshmipur district administration.

During the drive, officials found several violations, including operating without trade licences, selling products at excessive prices, using oversized paper bags and selling baby food without the required licence.

The businesses were fined under various provisions of the Local Government (Municipality) Act 2009, Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009, Weights and Measures Standards Act 2018 and Essential Commodities Control Act 1956.

Retail shops selling LPG gas were also monitored during the drive, while traders were warned to comply with regulations when selling their products.

The operation was conducted by Lakshmipur district administration Executive Magistrates Mizanur Rahman and Jannatul Siddika, with police personnel providing overall assistance.

The district administration said such drives will continue in the public interest to ensure consumer rights and prevent irregularities in local markets.
