Meritorious underprivileged school students in Boalmari received pink bicycles and educational materials on Thursday afternoon to facilitate their daily commutes and encourage academic pursuits.
The distribution ceremony, held at the Boalmari Upazila Parishad premises, coincided with the official inauguration of "Athenaeum," a newly constructed upazila library designed to foster reading habits and intellectual development across the community.
Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Md. Moniruzzaman Miah inaugurated the facility as the chief guest, with Faridpur Deputy Commissioner Mazharul Islam presiding over the event.
Speaking at the ceremony, Moniruzzaman Miah noted that the library’s opening comes during "Nazrul Year," offering residents of all ages a space for lifelong learning. He emphasized that distributing bicycles directly addresses transport barriers for underprivileged children, ensuring smoother access to education alongside academic support.
Boalmari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) S.M. Rakibul Hasan stated that the initiative aims to boost school attendance while establishing "Athenaeum" as a local learning hub. Assistant Commissioner (Land) Nazmunnahar Naim and other administrative officials were also in attendance.
