MetLife Bangladesh Invests Tk.50 Crore in EBL Subordinated Bond

MetLife Bangladesh has invested Tk.50 crore in the fourth subordinated bond issued by Eastern Bank PLC (EBL) with strengthening its efforts to diversify the company's investment portfolio.

Beyond government bonds MetLife Bangladesh continues investing in corporate bonds to support sustainable financing for businesses while delivering long-term returns for policyholders. With this latest investment the insurer's total portfolio has reached approximately Tk.19,000 crore.

Ala Ahmad, CEO of MetLife Bangladesh said the partnership with EBL reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the country's financial ecosystem while responsibly growing the company's investment portfolio to ensure secure, sustainable returns for policyholders.

Hassan O. Rashid, Managing Director of EBL, said the bank remains focused on using its financial strength to create diversified investment opportunities for corporates. He noted that instruments like subordinated bonds help support responsible business growth, deepen long-term financing and contribute to Bangladesh's economic development.
