


Newly elected President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir received his first ceremonial guard of honour and held his first official engagements at Bangabhaban on Sunday, marking the start of his term.
A mounted contingent of Bangladesh Police welcomed the President upon his arrival at 11 am with escorting him to the Credential Field. There is a President Guard Regiment (PGR) contingent presented a formal guard of honour while a combined military band from the Army, Navy and Air Force played a welcome tune.
Following the ceremony, senior officials greeted the President and his family with floral bouquets at the Octagonal of Bangabhaban. Those present included Military Secretary Major General A S M Bahauddin, Public Division Secretary AJM Salahuddin Nagari, Press Secretary Sarwar Alam and PGR Commander Brigadier General Ghulam Ariqul Alam.
After the welcoming ceremony, President Alamgir proceeded to his office where he signed official documents also formally beginning his duties as head of state.
