Two Suspects Confess in Rangpur Quadruple Murder Case

Two suspects arrested in connection with the murder of a former schoolteacher and three family members in Rangpur city have confessed to their involvement before a court.

The accused Mugdha Das (23) and Siddhartha Das (19) recorded their confessional statements late Sunday night before Rangpur Metropolitan Magistrate Rafiq-ul Islam according to Case Investigating Officer Milon Chakraborty.

Police declined to disclose details of the statements to protect the ongoing investigation. The investigating officer noted that because both suspects confessed and police did not seek a remand order.

The victims were identified as Ganapati Chakraborty (65) a retired teacher at Rangpur Zilla School, his wife Pritilata Chakraborty (50) their daughter Parthi Chakraborty (25) and their son Priyam Chakraborty (12) a fifth-grade student at the same school.

Police recovered the bodies late Saturday night from a residence in the Machuapara Mandir area of the city. Officers found one body on the rooftop also two on the terrace and one inside a room. Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud later briefed reporters on the incident during a press conference on Sunday morning.

Authorities stated that further details including whether additional individuals were involved also will emerge as the investigation progresses.
