Bangladesh has an adequate supply of fuel oil despite the ongoing Middle East crisis, Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmud Tuku informed the National Parliament on Tuesday.
The Minister detailed the current reserves, noting that diesel makes up the largest portion of the stock at 164,644 tons. Additionally, the country holds 10,500 tons of octane and 16,000 tons of petrol. More shipments are scheduled to arrive later this month to bolster these levels.
To combat market instability, the government has intensified its crackdown on illegal hoarding. Between March 3 and April 4, authorities conducted 342 operations, resulting in the recovery of over 4 million liters of fuel.
Addressing concerns over price hikes, the Minister clarified that prices remained stable last month. However, the government is currently reviewing the pricing structure for May. He emphasized that any future adjustments would only occur if necessary and following a formal discussion within the Council of Ministers.
