Md. Ziaul Haque Additional Secretary of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division has been appointed as the acting Chairman of the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC). He will assume this role alongside his current administrative duties until further notice.
The Energy and Mineral Resources Division issued the official order on Sunday August 2. According to the directive signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Sabrina Afrin Mustafa Haque was assigned this additional responsibility to ensure the uninterrupted and smooth operation of the state-run corporation.
This appointment fills a week-long leadership vacancy. On July 26 former BPC Chairman Md. Rezanur Rahman was removed from the post and transferred to the Ministry of Public Administration as a Joint Additional Secretary. The government cited "public interest" for Rahman’s immediate transfer. Haque will now guide the BPC through this transitional period.
