Recently, Haraguchi, Chairman of Aisin Corporation, visited Chittagong Dry Dock Limited (CDDL). During the visit, he reaffirmed Aisin Corporation’s commitment to supporting Bangladesh’s shipbuilding sector through enhanced safety measures and technical collaboration.
CDDL General Manager, Captain Abul Hasnat Modashwer PSC, BN, hosted the delegation.
In a view-sharing meeting after the visit, Chairman Haraguchi highlighted Bangladesh’s strategic location and its potential as a shipbuilding hub. He emphasized the need for standardized safety protocols aligned with international norms. Identifying CDDL as a model site with organized Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), he expressed interest in making it a pilot destination for safety improvement initiatives.
Haraguchi proposed a technical training program in Japan for CDDL technicians. The program would transfer advanced coating technology, safety management systems, and quality control techniques—potentially free of charge. He also showed interest in recruiting skilled Bangladeshi technicians for Japan, promoting long-term knowledge transfer and productivity growth.
Captain Hasnat welcomed the delegation and expressed strong support for joint efforts to enhance shipyard safety and technical skills. He noted that any future collaboration with Aisin would be coordinated through the Japan-Bangla Bridge Corporation.
The exchange meeting, facilitated by Japan Bangla Bridge Recruiting Agency (JBBRA), also discussed the recruitment of skilled and unskilled workers from CDDL to various Japanese shipyards.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Chairman Haraguchi presented 200 industrial-standard safety masks on behalf of Aisin Corporation.
Other participants included Aisin Managing Director Mr. Abe, Forward Cooperative Director Mr. Imai, and senior CDDL officials.
