Shakil alias Yoad Shakil, nephew of former Narayanganj-5 MP Shamim Osman and known as one of the cadres of fugitive Ajmeri Osman, and his associate Chishti, were arrested by the Highway Police with foreign pistols, magazines and bullets during a search of a passenger bus in Chandina, Comilla.
A team of Highway Police conducted the operation at around 8:45 pm on Monday (January 19) in the Madhaiya Bus Station area of Chandina Upazila, Comilla on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway. Police said that the two were arrested after searching a suspicious passenger bus. During the search, a foreign pistol, two magazines and one round of bullets were recovered from them. The arrested are Habibur Rahman Shakil (33) alias Yoad Shakil, son of Babul Mia of Monairkandi village of Sonargaon upazila of Narayanganj district, and Mohammad Chishti (42) son of Golzar Hossain of Laxmankhola area of Bandar upazila.
The highway police further said that the recovered weapons and ammunition are illegal. A case under the Arms Act is under process against them in this incident. After taking legal action, the arrested will be handed over to the concerned police station.
