An elderly man has died nearly two months after being tortured and tied to a tree in Bhangura Upazila.
The victim, Entaj Ali (60), died at his home on Saturday (March 21), the morning of Eid. He was a resident of Nurnagar village under Ashtamanisha union.
According to local sources, the incident took place on January 24 over a land dispute. Several men from the same village—identified as Sher-e-Bangla, Zakaria, Habib and Robbel—allegedly dragged Entaj Ali from his house with a rope tied around his neck.
The attackers then tied him to a tree and beat him severely. When his wife tried to intervene, she was also assaulted and injured.
Local residents later rescued both victims in critical condition and admitted them to the Upazila Health Complex. A video of the incident later circulated on social media, drawing public attention.
Following the incident, Entaj Ali’s brother, Fazlur Rahman, filed a case with Bhangura Police Station.
Officer-in-Charge SM Mostafizur Rahman said the body has been sent to the Pabna General Hospital Morgue for autopsy. The exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report, which will guide further legal action.
