A traditional bullfight was held in Narail during Eid, attracting a large number of visitors and creating a festive rural atmosphere.
The event took place on Sunday afternoon (March 22) at Kalinagar village in Bichali Union under Sadar upazila. The competition was jointly organised by residents of Bichali and Kalinagar villages.
The programme was inaugurated by Union Parishad Chairman Himayet Hussain Faruk. Local representatives and community leaders also attended the opening ceremony.
Thousands of people from nearby areas gathered to watch the event. The crowd began building up from the morning, and by noon, the field was full. Many spectators even climbed trees and roadside areas to get a better view.
A total of 36 bulls from different areas took part in the competition. The event turned into a village fair, with stalls selling snacks, sweets, toys, clay items and traditional handicrafts.
People of all ages—from child to elderly—joined the celebration. Visitors said such events are part of Bengal’s rural heritage and help preserve traditional culture.
Many attendees came from surrounding districts, including Jessore, Nawapara and Khulna, to enjoy the arrangement during the Eid holidays.
Organisers said the bullfight was arranged to promote unity and maintain local traditions. They expressed their commitment to continuing the event in the future.
