At least seven people were killed in two separate road accidents in Habiganj and Feni early Sunday.
In Habiganj, four people died after a collision between a bus and a pickup van in the Andiura area of Madhabpur upazila on the Dhaka–Sylhet highway. According to police, the crash occurred in the early hours when the two vehicles collided head-on.
The impact caused the pickup van to overturn and fall into a roadside ditch or creek. Local residents noticed the wreckage and alerted authorities. Police and fire service personnel later arrived at the scene and recovered four bodies trapped beneath the vehicle.
Officer-in-Charge Sohel Rana of Madhabpur Police Station confirmed that all the deceased were passengers of the pickup van. Their identities could not be immediately established, and efforts are ongoing to identify them.
In a separate incident in Feni, three more people were killed in a multi-vehicle collision involving a bus, an ambulance, and a motorcycle in the Rampur area on the Dhaka–Chattogram highway. At least five others were injured in the crash.
Emergency services responded to both incidents, and the injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Authorities are investigating the causes of the accidents, with initial indications pointing to reckless driving and poor road conditions as possible factors.
