Motorcycle Crash in Shantiganj Kills One, Two Injured

One person was killed and two others were injured in a motorcycle accident in Shantiganj upazila of Sunamganj.

The accident occurred around 1:00 pm on Sunday (March 22) on the Dirai–Madanpur road in Gagli village under Joykals Union.

The deceased was identified as Shafiqul Islam, son of Ukil Ali from Muktukhai village in Shimulbak Union. The injured are Saidul Islam (30), son of the late Akkal Ali, and Gulzar Ali (40), son of Hanif Ullah, both from the same village.

According to local sources, the three were travelling on a motorcycle from Muktukhai to Shimulbagan in Tahirpur. When they reached the Eidgah area in Gagli village, the rider lost control and crashed into a roadside tree.

All three were critically injured and rescued by locals. They were taken to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital, where Shafiqul Islam later died while undergoing treatment.

Saidul Islam was referred to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. Gulzar Ali is currently receiving treatment at Sunamganj Sadar Hospital.

Officer-in-Charge of Shantiganj Police Station, Md. Oli Ullah, confirmed the incident. He said police responded quickly after receiving the report and assisted in sending the আহতদের to hospital. Legal procedures are underway.
