


A 65-year-old man was killed after being hit by a passenger bus while crossing a highway in Narail's Lohagara upazila on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased Md. Bachchu Khan was a resident of Raypasha village in the upazila's Kotakhol union.
According to eyewitnesses the fatal accident occurred around 12:30 pm in front of the Lakshipasha Electricity Office on the Kalna-Narail-Jashore highway. A Kalna-bound passenger bus from Narail struck the elderly man as he was crossing the road and leaving him critically injured.
Locals quickly rescued him and rushed him to the Lohagara Upazila Health Complex. However the on-duty emergency physician Dr. Ashiqur Rahman, declared him dead upon arrival.
Lohagara Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Ajit Kumar Roy confirmed the incident and stating that a police team was dispatched to the hospital immediately after receiving the information.
Police have seized the passenger bus and arrested its driver in connection with the crash. Legal proceedings regarding the incident are currently underway the police official added.
