LPG Shops Across Bangladesh to Close for Two Days

LPG shops across Bangladesh will remain closed for two consecutive days on October 15 and 16 in protest against alleged harassment of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) traders.

Selim Khan, president of the LPG Business Cooperative Association Limited, announced the decision at a press conference at the National Press Club in Dhaka on Monday (October 12).

Under the decision, all LPG shops across the country will remain closed on Thursday and Friday. The latest announcement comes after the price of LPG was increased in the domestic market on October 4.

Under the revised pricing, the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) raised the price of a 12-kilogram LPG cylinder by Tk 252 to Tk 1,837.

However, complaints have emerged that LPG cylinders are not available at the government-fixed price in some places.
