Flight operations between Dhaka and Saudi Arabia have been hit hard for three straight days following recent drone and missile attacks on Saudi airports.
According to an update from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Monday, 28 scheduled flights have been cancelled so far and leaving at least 4,851 passengers stranded in Dhaka.
The affected flights include four operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, two by US-Bangla, three by Riyadh Air and 16 connecting transit flights via IndiGo Airlines.
The widespread travel disruptions come after Houthi rebels launched attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. A major strike on Saturday killed 12 people including two Bangladeshi nationals and injured over 300 others according to Saudi authorities.
Operations at Riyadh's main airport remain severely disrupted, with flight tracking data showing that nearly all scheduled flights were cancelled over the weekend as safety inspections and security measures continue.
