The District Detective Branch (DB) of Rajbari has arrested three drug traffickers and seized 30,000 Yaba pills with an estimated street value of Tk.90 lakh. The contraband was smuggled inside a truck carrying textile waste.
The operation was conducted around 4:30 AM on Monday near the Chourasta Bus Terminal on the Rajbari-Kushtia Highway.
Acting on a tip-off the DB officers intercepted the Jashore-bound truck (Dhaka Metro-Ta-18-1128). During a thorough search, police recovered 30,000 Yaba pills packed into 150 blue zipper bags concealed beneath the driver's seat. Authorities also seized 12 tons of textile waste, three mobile phones and the vehicle.
The arrested suspects are all residents of the Benapole area in Jashore district.
Addressing a press briefing at the Superintendent of Police’s office, SP Mir Monir Hossain stated that the syndicate was transporting the drugs from Teknaf to Jashore. He added that operations are underway to capture other members of the network and reaffirmed police commitment to a drug-free district.
A formal case under the Narcotics Control Act has been filed against the suspects at Goalanda Ghat Police Station.
