


An inter-district football tournament has started in Kaliganj, Lalmonirhat with the aim of creating anti-drug awareness. Teams from eight districts of Rangpur division are participating in this competition.
The anti-drug inter-district football tournament organized at the Duhuli School ground of the upazila was inaugurated on Thursday afternoon. The tournament was inaugurated by BSS and News24 Bureau Chief Rezaul Karim Manik.
The Kurigram district team faced the Palashbari upazila team of Gaibandha in the opening game. There was great enthusiasm and enthusiasm from the spectators all over the field.
Senior journalist Altafur Rahman, journalist Faruk Alam, Rahebul Islam Titul, Sheikh Ranat Simanto, Moslem Uddin Roni and journalists from local and national media were present at the time.
The organizing committee said that a team from Nilphamari, Rangpur, Gaibandha, Kurigram, Panchagarh, Lalmonirhat, Bogra and the host Kaliganj are participating in this tournament.
During the inauguration of the tournament, BSS and News24 Bureau Chief Rezaul Karim Manik said that this is an event to make the youth aware of the terrible ill effects of drugs. Besides, the tournament has been organized in memory of sports organizer Kasem Member, who passed away while playing on this very field about a year ago.
The organizers and local sports enthusiasts hope that there is no alternative to sports to keep people away from drugs.
