7 out of 15 Candidates in Faridpur-1 constituency are Valid

On the last day of nomination verification for the 13th National Parliament election, the nominations of 7 out of 15 candidates filed for Faridpur-1 (Alfadanga, Boalmari and Madhukhali) constituency have finally been declared valid.

Today, Sunday (January 4), from 11 am to 1:30 pm, District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Md. Kamrul Hasan Molla conducted the verification of nomination papers at the conference room of the Faridpur Deputy Commissioner's office.

In the first stage, the nominations of 7 independent candidates were canceled and the nominations of 8 party candidates were suspended due to various errors. Later, the suspended candidates were given an opportunity to correct the errors until 4 pm. After submitting the required documents within the stipulated time, 7 candidates were declared valid after re-verification.

Cancelled independent candidates: The independent candidates whose nominations were cancelled are Jatiya Nagorik Party District Convener Md. Hasibur Rahman Apu, BNP rebel candidate Shamsuddin Mia Jhunu, Dhaka Times Editor Arifur Rahman Dolon, Md. Shahabuddin Ahmed, Dr. Md. Golam Kabir Mia, Md. Abdur Rahman Jico and Laila Arjuman Banu.

Validated candidates: At the end of the day, the 7 candidates declared valid in Faridpur-1 constituency are - Khandaker Nasirul Islam (BNP), Md. Ilias Mollah (Jamaat), Shah Mohammad Abu Zafar (National Unity Front), Md. Abul Basar Khan (Independent), Muhammad Khaled Bin Naser (Bangladesh Congress), Sultan Ahmed Khan (National Party) and Mufti Mohammad Sharafat Hossain (Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis).

Bangladesh Minority Janata Party candidate Mrinmoy Kanti's nomination was finally cancelled as he did not submit the necessary documents within the stipulated time.

District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Md. Kamrul Hasan Molla said, "As the suspended candidates submitted the amendment documents within the stipulated time, 7 people have been declared valid after verification as per the rules."
