


A 25-year-old construction worker died after falling from the roof of an under-construction building in Sariakandi Upazila’s Baraipara area on Friday morning.
The deceased, Shakil, was the son of Sakhawat Hossain Sakku from Bagber area under Sariakandi Police Station.
According to family members, the accident occurred around 9:30 am while Shakil was working on the second floor of a building under construction. He was reportedly lifting a الحديد rod when it came into contact with a nearby electric wire. The sudden impact caused him to lose balance and fall onto the road below.
He sustained critical injuries and was first taken to Sariakandi Upazila Health Complex. After initial treatment, doctors referred him to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for advanced care. However, he died on the way while being transported by ambulance.
Local residents said the building lacked basic safety measures for workers. They alleged that no protective equipment or safeguards were in place, which may have contributed to the fatal accident.
Police visited the scene after being informed. Officer-in-Charge A.F.M. Asaduzzaman said it was an Accident (accidental incident), and no formal complaint has been filed by the victim’s family so far.
He added that an unnatural death (UD) case has been recorded at the police station.
