A local leader of Chhatra Dal was killed in a violent attack in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna on Thursday night.

The victim, Imran Hossain Sohag, 26, was attacked around 10:30pm in the Sara Gopalpur area near a railway line. He was the son of Enamul Haque from Pakshi Union.

Police said Sohag was sitting at a tea stall with friends when a group of attackers approached him. Following an argument linked to a previous dispute, the assailants attacked him with sharp weapons and fled the scene.

Witnesses reported hearing gunshots during the incident. Sohag died on the spot.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Ishwardi Circle) Pranab Kumar confirmed the incident. He said police recovered the body and sent it to Pabna General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
