Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited Star Cineplex at Border Shopping Mall in Dhanmondi on Friday evening (April 3) with his daughter Zaima Rahman to watch a film, generating widespread curiosity among netizens and film enthusiasts.

A viral video showed them on the theater premises and leaving the cinema, where journalists asked about the film. The Prime Minister replied, “Well, everyone can see,” sparking assumptions that he watched the Eid release Banlata Express.

BNP media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed the Prime Minister’s theater visit. The film’s creator, Tanim Noor, expressed excitement over the news but stated he had not received official confirmation about which film was watched. Ajmeri Haque Bandhan, a lead actress in Banlata Express, shared the viral video, increasing public speculation.

However, the Prime Minister’s office clarified that Tarique Rahman and his daughter actually watched the Hollywood sci-fi film Project Hale Mary, not Banlata Express.

PM’s additional secretary, Atiqur Rahman Ruman, confirmed the visit and the film choice, emphasizing that the visit was part of weekend relaxation.

Fans welcomed the gesture, saying the Prime Minister buying tickets and enjoying a movie in public sets a positive example for cinema culture in Bangladesh.
