Dhaka cinema actress Apu Biswas has openly commented on the current state of the film industry, criticizing its heavy dependence on top protagonist Shakib Khan. While acknowledging Shakib Khan's dominance for over a decade, Biswas stated that this 'unilateral domination' is "never good news" for the film industry.

According to Biswas, it is "inconsistent" that production houses have largely shown a lack of interest in working on films that do not feature Shakib Khan. She stressed that the industry has a responsibility to take the film sector forward, which requires new initiatives and a willingness to diversify.

Apu Biswas addressed the issue of social media trolling and bullying she faces. Instead of complaining, she made an unusual appeal to critics, asking them to engage in 'positive bullying'. She explained that criticism, when constructive, is something "we can learn" from and use to "move forward."

She urged the media to send a positive message to the audience. Biswas specifically thanked and appreciated those production companies that are taking the risk of investing in projects to break the "slurry of Shakib-dependency."

She particularly highlighted the initiative of MK Production, stating that it is the responsibility of everyone in the film community to inspire such new efforts given that "no one wants to invest without Shakib."
