The Bangladesh Air Force will begin its annual exercise ‘Akash Bijoy-2026’ on Sunday (April 5) to assess combat readiness and strengthen the country’s air defense system.
According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the five-day exercise will run simultaneously across all Air Force bases and units until Thursday.
The drill aims to evaluate air defense operations and develop modern warfare strategies. Special focus will be given to integrated operations, rapid response systems, and updated air defense tactics.
During the exercise, pilots will conduct real-time training and practice complex air combat maneuvers. Fighter jets, transport aircraft, helicopters, radar systems, and surface-to-air missile units will all take part.
Unmanned aerial systems (drones), increasingly important in modern warfare, will also be used during the exercise.
The Air Force expects the exercise to enhance operational efficiency and further improve the professionalism of its personnel.
