New signing Enzo Fernandez impressed on his debut also assisting the winner.
Crystal Palace secured their first win of the season, twice coming from behind to beat Fulham 3-2 with Ben Chilwell scoring the late winner. Newcastle fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Bournemouth while Tottenham earned their first point in a goalless draw at Nottingham Forest. Brighton drew 1-1 with Leeds, Brentford tied 1-1 with Sunderland and Hull held Aston Villa scoreless. Promoted Hull remains unbeaten and second in the table.
In Serie A, Lautaro Martínez struck twice including a stoppage-time winner as Inter Milan came from behind to beat Napoli 3-2. Roma also staged a late comeback, defeating Atalanta 2-1 through Matías Soulé's goal and assist.
In Germany, Jamal Musiala returned from a neurological health scare to feature for Bayern Munich in a scoreless draw with Schalke. Elversberg continued their fairytale Bundesliga debut season with a dramatic 4-3 win over Borussia Moenchengladbach while Dortmund overturned a two-goal deficit to beat Hoffenheim 3-2.
In Spain the Athletic Bilbao thrashed Atletico Madrid 3-0 and Rayo Vallecano beat Racing Santander 3-2 behind a Sergio Camello brace.
Elsewhere the PSV thumped Ajax 3-1 in the Eredivisie while a match between Utrecht and Go Ahead Eagles was abandoned after fans threw fireworks onto the pitch.
