Bayern Munich began their Bundesliga title defence in style and thrashing Stuttgart 5-1 at the Allianz Arena on Friday. Dayot Upamecano headed Bayern ahead in the 21st minute from a Joshua Kimmich corner.
Stuttgart's Josha Vagnoman equalized early in the second half but Bayern responded quickly as Michael Olise restored the lead and an unlucky Vagnoman own goal made it 3-1. Aleksandar Pavlovic and Luis Diaz added further goals late on. Bayern have now gone unbeaten in their opening league match for 15 straight seasons.
Elsewhere the defending Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain needed two stoppage-time goals to draw 2-2 at Lille following a similar late comeback last week against Rennes. Vitinha and Marquinhos struck in the final minutes after Lille had led through Hakon Arnar Haraldsson and Dilane Bakwa.
AC Milan ended a four-game home losing streak with a 2-0 win over newly promoted Venezia in Serie A thanks to a Goncalo Ramos goal and a late own goal. The result kept Milan level on points after two games as they chase rivals Inter.
In La Liga the Alaves moved top of the table with a 1-0 win over Villarreal while Racing Santander overcame a Yassir Zabiri hat-trick scare to beat Elche 3-2 leaving Elche still winless this season.
