


Three pharmacies in the Bhabaniganj Bazar area of Lakshmipur Sadar upazila have been fined a total of Tk 21,000 following a mobile court operation.
The drive was conducted around noon on Sunday (September 6) under the leadership of Jannatul Chiddika, executive magistrate of the Lakshmipur district administration.
Expired Medicines, Antibiotic Records Found
During the inspection, authorities found several irregularities at the three pharmacies, including the storage and sale of expired medicines, failure to maintain proper registers for antibiotic sales, storage of physician samples and lack of required licences.
The three establishments were fined a combined Tk 21,000 under various provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 2023. The fines were collected on the spot.
The Drug Superintendent of Lakshmipur, along with members of the police and Ansar, assisted in the operation.
Executive Magistrate Jannatul Chiddika said such drives would continue in the public interest to ensure the quality of medicines and their safe use.
She urged pharmacy operators to comply with relevant laws and regulations to protect public health.
