


Three people were killed and 17 others injured after a Tungi Para Express bus lost control and plunged into a roadside ditch in Muksudpur upazila of Gopalganj on Sunday morning.
The accident occurred around 10:20am in the Gerakhola area on the Dhaka-Khulna highway.
Sergeant Azadur Rahman of Bhanga Highway Police Station said the bus, bearing registration number Dhaka Metro-Ga-15-9037 was travelling from Khulna to Dhaka when the driver lost control of the vehicle upon reaching Gerakhola. The bus subsequently fell into a roadside ditch, leaving three passengers dead on the spot.
Locals and police rescued the injured and took them to Muksudpur Upazila Health Complex. Four of the injured were later referred to Faridpur Medical College Hospital as their condition was critical. The remaining injured are receiving treatment at the Muksudpur health complex.
Upon receiving the news Muksudpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mahmuda Ashik Kabir, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Muksudpur Police Station Md Abdullah Al Mamun and Investigation Officer Md Matiar Molla visited the accident site and inspected the situation.
The identities of the deceased could not be confirmed immediately. The exact cause of the accident has yet to be established.
