


Thunderstorms, accompanied by rain and lightning, are likely to sweep over 19 districts of Bangladesh, including Dhaka, by Friday evening.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) issued this forecast in an inland river port warning valid from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. today.
According to the bulletin, signed by Assistant Meteorologist Kazi Jebunnesa, the affected districts are Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dinajpur, Pabna, Bogra, Tangail, Mymensingh, Jessore, Kushtia, Dhaka, Faridpur, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, and Sylhet.
Temporary west or north-westerly wind gusts of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour are expected to hit these regions.
Consequently, the BMD has advised river ports in these 19 districts to hoist cautionary signal number one to ensure the safety of inland water vessels.
